Marge and I arrived in Tallahassee Wed. after a hectic week of last minute rushing to make our move after only about a week to get ready. However, the move went very successfully! We arrived at our new home in Westminster, Tallahassee, on Wed, and moved in Thurs. You have never see so many boxes!
We now have them 90% unloaded, Sat. night. It would have been impossible without my wonderfl daughter's help! She has worked like a demon to get us settled. And guess what, we found, and bought, a dog today!
He's a 6 year old American Eskimo, and he's already family. Picture to follow.
I am using my new Dell laptop, with Vista. Quite a change! HARD!

Yesterday was a red letter day, we accepted an offer on our condominium! Of course more things have to happen before we move, but at least it has all started now. I would like to move by Xmas, but that may be impossible. It looms as a daunting task for an 84 year old man and his
beloved wife who has alzheimers! But with my daughter's help, I believe we will accomplish it by
about Jan. 14 or so. More details as they unfold. We are going toTallahassee,Fl. to the retirement village, Westminster.

Mortality

Because mainly due to my wife's Alzheimers, I have occasionally contemplated mortality lately.
We worry about where the world is going, what the tax rate will be five years from now, what
we will actually do about global warming etc.
And then I think to myself, in 2-3 years, it's likely that either my wife or me, or both will be dead. And I don't believe we'll be able to "look down" and see how it all turned out.
It should be a scary thought, but somehow it's not! Just makes me want to get to the retirement
village, and a dog soon.

A few thoughts about my personal philosophy. I consider myself a conservative Republican. But I support stem cell research, I would like to see strong gun control laws, I see no reason for religion to enter politics, I support abortion rights, and I'll think of some more ways I differ from my party.
What I don't agree with, are tax and spend, a socialistic type government, the present anti-war movements, open borders. But I know this country was developed by immigration, and we must find a way to legalize the process. I believe English should be mandatory for citizenship. I believe we are contributing to global warming, even if we are not the primary cause. I want to see our automobile industry really do something about reducing our oil dependency. At present, hybrids are the only answer being practical, and I'm glad to see Detroit finally tackling the problem. I would support big gas tax increase, if it was used to further our energy independance.
Some of this sounds contradictory, but to me, it isn't.
I feel like I should address religion. I was raised a strict Episcopalion, but the war and the holocaust changed my belief in God as it is taught in all churches. Some thing had to be at the beginning, but that was so long ago, I can't imagine anything lasting that long. Also, if God is so loving, how could He or She allow holcausts. Marge now has Alzheimers, and so I am going to
church again, she can't drive. Is this Hypcritical on my part, i don't know.
Anway, a few thoughts, I'll probably add to it after a while
